History
TreeGrace Farms was established in 1999 by Jui-Lien Chou,
M.D. and is named after her father, Shu-En Chou ("Tree Grace"). He is
a retired schoolteacher and farmer in Taiwan. As a cancer
doctor in Lubbock for over fifteen years, Dr. Chou is well aware of the old
saying "You are what you eat.” In fact she believes that eating is our most
intimate interaction with our environment. Having grown up in a farming
family, she is familiar with the benefits of local food production as well
as the benefits of organic and sustainable agricultural practices. Her
passion is to encourage people to grow their own food and to advance the
cause of urban organic agriculture.
